In the last post, I talked about reducing mouse clicks while navigating through Sage Estimating software. In this post, I want to talk about a method that reduces mouse clicks and even keyboard presses.
Take a moment and think about if you were at the takeoff quantity in your spreadsheet and wanted to move to the subcontractor column, host many keyboard presses does it take? Most users couple columns for labor and a few more for material columns take about 5-8 keyboard presses. What if you could hold the CTRL key and press S (as in subcontractor) and have the cursor jump directly to that column?
Think about moving between the takeoff quantity column and the total column. The shortcut of CTRL and left arrow key will move to the entire left of your spreadsheet with CTRL and right arrow key taking you to your rightmost column.
There is an entire page of keyboard shortcuts that allows a lot of navigating through the software.
One method to find out about more shortcuts is in your Help in estimating, search for keyboard shortcut.
Also here is a list below to give you an idea of how many there are.
Have difficulty remembering these keystrokes, make sure to check back for my next topic will be on the fastest method of navigation using a Steam Deck.
